This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit legalace.app, install our iOS/Android applications, or interact with our AI study tutor via text or voice (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here and to any applicable Terms of Service.

2 Personal Information We Collect

Examples & Sources

Identifiers

Name, email, postal address, IP address, device IDs. Collected directly from you or automatically from your device.

Education & Usage Data

Law-school affiliation, case-brief progress, pages viewed, session timestamps. Collected from your activity on the Services.

AI Interaction Data

Text prompts, voice recordings, phone number (for outbound audio), images submitted, and AI-generated responses. Collected when you chat with the tutor.

Payment Data

Name, billing address, limited card details (tokenized). Provided by you at checkout and processed by our payment processor.

Technical & Location Data

Browser type, OS version, carrier, push-notification token, approximate location inferred from IP.

Cookies / Similar Tech

Session and persistent cookies, pixels, SDKs, used for authentication, analytics, ad measurement, and preference storage.

You may refuse to provide certain information, but some functions (e.g., personalized tutoring, subscription access) may not work without it.

3 Cookies & Other Tracking Technologies

We and selected partners (e.g., Google Analytics, PostHog) use cookies, web beacons, and mobile SDKs to understand usage patterns, save your settings, and serve interest-based advertising. You can adjust browser or device settings to block cookies, but parts of the Services may then be unavailable.

4 How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to: (i) provide and improve case-brief libraries and AI tutoring; (ii) personalize study recommendations; (iii) process transactions; (iv) send product updates, push notifications, and support messages; (v) train and refine our AI models (using de-identified data); (vi) detect fraud and ensure trust and safety; and (vii) comply with law.

5 Legal Bases for EU / UK Users

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: consent, contractual necessity, legal obligation, protection of vital interests, and our legitimate interests (e.g., product development, security), balancing your rights with our purposes.

6 How We Share Information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers & analytics vendors (hosting, payments, AI infrastructure, customer support). 

  • Educational partners or employers that purchased group access, to report engagement metrics. 

  • Corporate affiliates & transaction partners in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

  • Law enforcement or regulators where required or to protect rights, safety, or property. 

  • With your consent or at your explicit direction. 

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration.

7 Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this Policy, unless a longer period is required by law, contract, or legitimate business need (e.g., backups, fraud prevention).

8 Your Choices & Rights

  • Account Controls. Update profile details or review AI-interaction history in-app. 

  • Marketing Opt-Out. Unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link in each message or by emailing [customer@legalace.app]. 

  • EU / UK Rights. Request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restrict processing; object to certain uses; or withdraw consent at any time. 

  • California Rights. Exercise CCPA rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out of “sharing” for cross-context advertising. Submit requests via [link] or email. We do not discriminate for exercising privacy rights. 

  • Delete Your Data. Send a request with sufficient detail to [customer@legalace.app]; we will verify identity before processing. 

9 Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, but no system is completely secure. Keep your passwords confidential and notify us immediately of unauthorized use.

10 International Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you consent to transferring your information to and processing it in the U.S. and other countries that may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11 Children’s Privacy

Legal Ace does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy periodically. Material changes will be posted here and, where appropriate, notified via email or in-app message at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
